Local families receive aid with Crawford County food giveaway
On October 31st one of the several food giveaways for Crawford County was held at the Grayling High School in the parking lot. A light mist came down as the food giveaway began but as time went on the rain came down harder. That however did not keep people inside as many were in attendance for the occasion.
Clyde Holzbauer is the coordinator for this food giveaway and has taken the lead for the 3rd year. “We try to hold food giveaways like this about 3 times per year. Events such as this are held in partnership and are made possible through the Christian Help Center, The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and our Frederic food bank. Our food bank in Frederic is open every week on Mondays 4-5:30pm and is open to any resident of Crawford County with children. Our donations today were provided by the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and we have 9 tons of food to give away. If anyone would like to make a donation they can either call me at (989)344-3624 or make a check out payable to Food Bank of Eastern Michigan and drop it off at the Grayling Elementary School in care of Clyde Holzbauer”, said Holzbauer. Students from the Grayling schools and Mrs. Bauchamp took part in helping hand out the food and carrying items to people’s vehicles for them. The helpers stayed very busy as the line moved constantly and the rain came down.
